Why Find Locators links to official resources
Find Locators is not an 811 center and cannot create, update, extend, or resolve a locate request. Official state resources are the source for the process and requirements that apply.
What to do after the ticket
Review the response from each notified facility operator, resolve incomplete or unmarked responses through the official process, and assess whether privately owned facilities may remain. A private locator does not replace the official notification.
Public one-call locates are generally provided without a direct fee to the person submitting the ticket, while a private locate is a separately hired paid scope.
